Robotcraft - Robotics Craftsmanship International Academy

Robotics Craftsmanship International Academy

Coimbra, Portugal

This summer I had the chance to experience as part of my Erasmus+ internship programe the Robotcraft 2017. This event is a well structured and organized event from Ingeniarius Lda and Universidade de Coimbra.
I had the opportunity to meet people from all around the world, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa which are now my friends. In this course you will acquire 3D modelling, 3D printing and electromechanical concepts, applied to the design of mobile robots. You will also explore the Arduino platform and the ROS framework for the low-level and high-level control of mobile robots. Consolidate all concepts taught towards the design of a mobile robotic platform and compete with your friends!
They have a very helpful and experienced team that guide you and solve your questions regarding Engineering and Robotics. They invite top researchers and speakers, each week, in all fields of Robotics such as Computer Vision, UAV Robotics, Social Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, to mention a few.
I had also the chance to be selected to assist the company in the Mechatronics assembly of Multi Robot Patrol prototypes, which is a very valuable experience as part of my work placement.
Finally if you are a student from any field between Bachelor to PhD, give it a try!  You will earn Mechanical, Electronics and Computer engineering hands-on experience and at the same time explore the beautiful country on weekend excursions. It will change your life and broaden your perspective about people, cultures and of course robotics!

If you are motivated and want to gain working experience and be prepared to sharpen your skillset this is the perfect event for you. It will really help you become better and assist you in making the first step in the employment world. Well that was my personal perspective and motivation. I could now say with confidence that it  made me a better engineer and person.

If you need more information about the event or have questions about the overall experience feel free to contact me at pkarfa@outlook.com

I currently serve as the National Contact Person of Greece and will be a mentor in the the next version

Robotcraft 2018

Applicants from Greece you are welcome to apply, and make a change!

You can find the event's structure and preliminary report here . All courses are taught in English. So it is necessary at least to have a basic understanding of the language because it will also be an international environment. Take a look at the video below, to get a feel of the experience.

There is also an entrance price that is low comparing to the all gained outcomes. You can find the related information here .

Acommodation and costs of living are not high. On the contrary they are pretty low on a monthly basis, making it perfect for students. I booked a room from the local landlord in a shared house. Don't worry a lot of Robocrafters live in the same houses at that moment so it is, really, not a problem. If you need more on this just contact me!

Come and make this a beautiful lifetime experience !

See you in the next Robotcraft?!!

I want to thank all of the mentoring staff and interns for the great conversations, ideas, fun and work we shared ! Wish you all the best!!!
